Today let’s talk about Patrik Antonius, another professional you can compete with on a Full Tilt Poker download. Antonius was born in 1980 in Finland where he worked as both a tennis coach and model before he started earning huge profits on his Full Tilt Poker download. His current residence is in Monte Carlo with his wife and 2 year old daughter. His wife is pregnant with another child, and she will give birth later on this year.
Like most poker players, Antonius learned to play at home games. He discovered he was a good player and he really enjoyed it, so he eventually turned to Internet sites. He was able to go pro 8 years ago, and that’s when he moved to Las Vegas. In Vegas he received cards in a large number of US poker rooms, and he even played the Big Game in the Bellagio. He also played in the WSOP that year, but he didn’t have any significant cashes. In fact, to this day he is still looking for his first WSOP bracelet.
Antonius started putting himself in the poker spotlight in 2005 with some big tournament accomplishments. He started in casinos for US players, making the money in two WPT MTTs and then making the money in three World Series of Poker events. When he was finished with the WSOP, he profited in another WPT tournament, a 2nd place finish in the Five Diamond Classic for $1 million. He also played tournaments in Europe in 2005. He placed 3rd in a Barcelona event and then took 1st in the Baden Classic for over $340,000.
Since then, Antonius has continued to add to his winnings. In fact, he’s made approximately $3 million playing live tournament poker. Unlike many popular pros, though, his main game is actually online rather than live. He is frequently seen playing high stakes ring games on money poker sites, usually choosing to play heads-up Texas Hold’em and Pot Limit Omaha. It’s reported that he won over $9 million via online casino USA last year! He is the first player to challenge Tom Dwan in his Million Dollar Challenge.
The gambling isn’t just at poker tables as Antonius has fun with betting on sports and wagering money on golf games. He has also gambled millions of dollars away on fellow poker players via tournament stakes. Most of us will never see that much money in our lifetimes! All this extracurricular gambling kind of makes you want to ask if he plays free bet sportsbooks when he’s not at the high stakes tables. It looks like he has a couple things in common with Phil Ivey!
If you would like the chance to play with Patrik Antonius, go ahead and play at Full Tilt. He has stated that he enjoys cash games a lot more than tournaments, so look for him in high stakes ring games. Here’s to running good!
